WHY CHOOSE US?
The 21st Century has brought with it many unexpected challenges. Now it’s the time for us to unite our forces and create change. There are extreme inequalities in the world today. Take for example the distribution of wealth: almost 3 billion people live in poverty, surviving on less than 2 USD per day. We invite you to study and understand the main contradictions in the world and to learn how to act in the contemporary world system for the benefit of the many.
COUNTRIES WHERE WE ARE
WHAT WE DO
Since the very beginning, One World Institute Norway has offered educational programs focused on the societal questions of the contemporary world. Our school has chosen as its main topics the following: social and economic conditions in the developing countries and in Europe, people’s living conditions, and expectations towards the future development of our world.
You can also help disadvantaged communities in India or Africa to improve their living conditions and to overcome social, economic and environmental challenges. Children are the future of any community, so in the Community Development projects there is great emphasis on providing vulnerable children with better opportunities.
Education is the driver of change in the world. Now you can bring your own contribution in places where education is needed the most! With One World Institute you can volunteer in teacher training colleges, or you can teach directly the children from vulnerable groups. You can volunteer in educational projects in India, or in Africa (Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia).
Aggressive industrial farming, global warming and the associated loss of water resources and quality of soil, unfair trade laws, all these make it very difficult for small scale farmers to produce food for their families or for their immediate communities. You can assist the small scale farmers in India or Africa to overcome these challenges and be creative with the resources they have.
Health is an essential human right and it has to be present in the foundation of any sustainable community and economy. You can bring your contribution in projects focused on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, TB, or malaria (depending on the country where you volunteer). You can also help those who are already infected with HIV to live a comfortable and productive life.
