The program’s outline consists of 4 periods, each one of them focused in different areas
  • STUDY

    6 MONTHS PERIOD

    The study, learn and prepare yourself for a theoretical and practical way of learning about the current core issues of our world today, accompanied by your teammates from all over Europe

    3 MONTHS PERIOD

    Choose an investigation topic and travel to Asia or Africa, experience the world by meeting and learning from the locals.

  • VOLUNTEER

    6 MONTHS PERIOD

    Choose between 5 category projects by Humana in more than 14 countries, in the countries of Africa or India, living in local communities, learning and sharing knowledge.

  • BTP

    3 MONTHS PERIOD

    Share your experience with the rest of the world. It’s a chance for you to inspire, speak out, let other conscious-minded people hear out your story. Make yourself be heard creatively through any form of media you can think of, including visits to schools, universities, galleries or even radio shows.

1. Why Volunteer with OWI?

One World Institute is a volunteer organization running since 1995 in Norway, with over 23 years of experience in the volunteer field and in partnership with Humana People to people an organization with over 1153 development units in more than 44 countries in 5 continents.

2. Requirements

The requirements are really simple, you need to have 18 years old and if you want to access the pre-course option you need to have a European passport.

We have two ways to cover the costs of the program:

  1. You can pay the costs of the program
  2. You can work to cover the costs of the program

4. Application dates

New teams start every March and September of every year but you can apply any time and all the application will be processed in the order they arrive in our system.

How to get started

    Let's meet & chat!

    Select a day and hour that suits you best. We can have a Skype meeting or phone call, to answer all of your questions about the programs.

    Volunteer qualification

    You are interested in joining a program. The next step is to send us your motivational letter and CV. We will analyze your profile to see if you match the criteria.

    Final Interview

    If we find you are a suitable candidate and you feel this program is for you, then it is time to arrange a date and time for the FINAL INTERVIEW. We will go over some questions and make sure you understand how the institution and programs work.

  • 4

    Enrollment papers

    After passing the final interview, you will receive a confirmation email, including the enrollment papers and a list of required documents you will need to send to finalize the enrollment process. We require you to send the documents back to us in at least a month.
