    Depending on the starting date, you participate in one of the Humana Projects in Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique or India. Working and living with locals you will spend time learning a different reality from your own and gaining a huge difference in perspective.

1. Why Volunteer with OWI?

One World Institute is a volunteer organization running since 1995 in Norway, with over 23 years of experience in the volunteer field and in partnership with Humana People to people an organization with over 1153 development units in more than 44 countries in 5 continents.


2. Requirements

The requirements are really simple, you need to have 18 years old and conversational level of English.


3. Program costs

The program costs 2700 € (for the periods spent in the school ) which will cover the following things:

  1. Food & Accommodation
  2. Program materials
  3. Activities included in the program

This is what you need to pay yourself, but you will get an additional scholarship from Humana People to People for the project period:

The Humana People to People scholarship of €1,600* covers:

  • Flight tickets to the project and back
  • Students health insurance for the project destination
  • Visa for the project destination
  • Necessary travel vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis for the project destination

4. Application dates

New teams start every year in March and October you can apply any time and all the application will be processed in the order they arrive in our system.

    Let's meet & chat!

    Select a day and hour that suits you best. We can have a Skype meeting or phone call, to answer all of your questions about the programs.

    Volunteer qualification

    You are interested in joining a program. The next step is to send us your motivational letter and CV. We will analyze your profile to see if you match the criteria.

    Final Interview

    If we find you are a suitable candidate and you feel this program is for you, then it is time to arrange a date and time for the FINAL INTERVIEW. We will go over some questions and make sure you understand how the institution and programs work.

    Enrollment papers

    After passing the final interview, you will receive a confirmation email, including the enrollment papers and a list of required documents you will need to send to finalize the enrollment process. We require you to send the documents back to us in at least a month.
